The International Pro Carton Design Award is a competition for new, as yet not realised design ideas in the field of cartonboard applications. The aim of the competition is to discover unrealised solutions throughout Europe, to make them public and, if possible, to put them into practice.
The competition is held every two years by Pro Carton International – in the two categories "Carton Packaging" and "Other Uses of Carton" (i.e. direct mails, displays/P.O.S. materials). Entries need to be submitted by 20th January 2010, the winners and runners-up will be presented at the award ceremony in the Spring of 2010. There will be one winner and two runners-up per category.
The award has proven extremely attractive, especially as winners and runners-up are given the opportunity of meeting major designers and manufacturers which considerably increases potential future collaboration. Prizes include a practical week at a renown European design agency as well as a week of training with experts from all areas of the supply chain, including practicals in leading carton and folding box companies.
And of course, the winners and runners-up will be made public via the Pro Carton-E-News as well as numerous press releases to industry in Europe, brand manufacturers and the trade. In addition, the results of the competition will be the subject of a separate brochure.
Not only do the designers benefit, so does industry: new names and good ideas are always needed, as are inspiration for high-quality positioning of carton and folded boxes, and for perfect brand and product presentation. This includes a number of aspects, ranging from sustainable use of materials, convenience, added-value as a gift or subsequent use as an article for daily use, as a game, decorative element, attractive container…..
As always, the jury for the Pro Carton Design Awards will consist of impartial specialists from all areas of the supply chain - designers, brand manufacturers, folded box manufacturers and retailers. This ensures that the different perspectives are covered and that the jury's decisions reflect a wide spectrum of opinion and expertise.

Participation is free for designers still undergoing education/training.
